I know this might not be the right forum to be asking but it is along similar lines...

Right now all of the files created from our AVID are sent to one file. That is found by going to
Local Disk(C:)>> Avid Media Files>> MXF>> 1

I'm looking for a better way to organize these folders than all the files being stored in this one folder so that I can choose which files to delete more easily.

It would be great if I could direct the media files from each seperate AVID project into corresponding media folders created for each project.

Is this possible???

Thanks in advance for your help.
Statistics : Posted by TavernaProd • on Wed Sep 01, 2010 1:12 pm

Re: DS archiving

Let me make one thing perfectly clear - archiving a DS projects and backing-up a DS project are two different animals.

First you make an archive, just as it is described in the manual. After that you can use Archive Backup utility to back up that archive with or without the associated media. That's why the utility is expecting an archive in Archive Root (i.e. D:\DS Archives). Set Destination path to point to your external drive, checkmark the media in File Types and off you go. If DS Archive Backup utility fails to move the media files, I'm sure the DS Support will be interested to know about that.

Generally speaking, you can employ regular, non-DS-specific back-up procedures, just like you would backup any other files. Of course the trick is to know which crazy-named media folder contains the media files for a particular project.
Statistics : Posted by Andrei Zhitkov • on Tue Aug 24, 2010 4:07 pm

DS archiving

I am currently running Avid DS 10.3 on an HPZ800. My current OS is WIndows XP 64 bit. The question I have is in regards to The archiving process. I need to back up my projects, but more importantly I need to backup my media with the project. I know there are programs called DS Archive Backup and there also is a project manager inside the application. However, that doesn't seem to be able to backup my media. Are there any other solutions that work a little better to back my media and projects up to an external drive? Im not interested in backing all my media to tape for the moment. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks
Bryan
Statistics : Posted by bmhaney • on Tue Aug 24, 2010 2:44 pm
