Yet another problem with Avid Knowledge Base

E-mail Print PDF

If you have an Avid question but not Avid Assurance and therefore Romania won't take your call, you might have to dig for the answer at Avid's Knowledge Base, a.k.a. KB. The KB can in fact be a treasure chest of most useful information, but it may prove to be excessively difficult to find its key. One of the main reasons so many have little luck finding answers in KB is actually not ever improving but still inadequate search technology but the human factor. Here's a case in point.

I can get no (customer) satisfaction

E-mail Print PDF

Today is a celebration of sorts. It is not often that an e-mail from Avid makes me gripe and giggle at the same time, but this one did. It read:

Subject: (Avid Community) Post Approved: Re: 4Gb card on a 2Gb Lanshare
From: "Avid Community - Automated Email" ForumAdministrator at avid.com

The post was approved and is ready to be viewed at the URL below.

What bugs Avid not

E-mail Print PDF

The new version of Media Composer - 3.5 - is out, which means end of development for the 3.1.x line. This is significant in one little aspect.

Runtime Error! Program: ...ramFiles\Avid\Avid Media Composer\AvidMediaComposer.exe. R6025. - pure vertual function call" OK.

MediaNet 5.1 real-life performance tests

E-mail Print PDF

There are many requests for information on Unity performance under real-life conditions. Nevertheless this intended series of postings may be valuable to get a general idea of what should be expected from a particular configuration. I will be publishing and updating results as they become available.

Avid Marketing strikes again

E-mail Print PDF

I guess it's official: Avid Marketing discarded a well founded tradition of selecting a new and distinctive name for each platform and picked the most confusing, well, tag really — DX.

Yep, all that brain-storming, new thinking fully engaged, all the market research, audience testing resulted in just two letters. The first one is 'D', the second one is 'X'. And I don't have to remind you of all the possible associations with the letter 'X'. I hope this platform doesn't become known as The Marked One.
